Less than 2 weeks to go until the mid-term elections and I have had about all I can take of the ads on television, in my email and on just about any website that I click on! The lies, exaggerations, and negative drivel has gotten out of hand.
Today, I saw the following from something called "American PAC."
A RADICAL AGENDA
* Eliminate the Senate
*Completely Open Borders
*Voting Rights For Non-Citizens
*Defunding The Military
*Eliminating Cash Bail
This is their real, actual plan. YOUR VOTE STOPS THEM.
Geez, I would even vote against that if I had no brain and believed this crap. The lies, the vitriol, the hate has gotten out of control.
How have we gotten here? Yes, there has always been negative advertising during campaigns. But we are living in a time that the President embarrasses the very office he holds by denigrating those in the press that ask questions he doesn't like. Calling anybody "stupid, low IQ, dumb (yes, it has a 'B') is reprehensible...coming from The President is just plain gross.
There is no doubt in my mind (and others that are watching closely), that Donald Trump will not accept the results when the Democrats win both The House and The Senate. He will direct his lackey, Mike Johnson, to not seat those that have been legally elected. We will be in a Constitutional Crisis like none ever experienced in our country's history. Already, thousands of North Carolina ballots are set too be rejected over minor technical issues after a federal court upheld strict NEW Republican rules for mail-in voters...and that is just the beginning of Trump's efforts to invalidate any result he doesn't like.
If you haven't noticed, The President has come completely unhinged... and there are no adults in the room to rein him in. His speeches illustrate a very sick individual who has very little touch with reality. His corruption has gotten to a level we heretofore thought impossible for an American President and his embrace of Putin over our Allies has made our world unsafe. We have a totally unstable person with his finger on the nuclear arsenal.
For those that hope for a Blue Wave and for the Democrats to immediately start impeachment proceedings, I believe that would be the wrong course of action. An impeachment is a waste of time as a conviction in The Senate is an impossibility. Besides, even if he is thrown out of office, we would only get Vance, who is so controlled by the Billionaires he serves, we would be no better off. The best course of action would be to legally block all of his decisions and use The Congress to exercise the true strength of "3 Equal Branches of Government."
And as long as I am on my soapbox, the growth of both anti-semitism and anti-Islamic rhetoric is truly frightening. I am so very tired of the so-called religious Right and their call for a Christian Nation...something that goes against the very fabric of our Founding Documents. I am afraid for my Children and Grandchildren and any one of any group (LGBTQ+) that are not white right wing men. We must all come together and reject these small minded people and fight for those being persecuted. And don't even get me started on the Nazi-inspired ICE agents roaming our streets to arrest anyone that looks like an immigrant- citizen or not. You would think we would learn from history..but not under this administration.
As you can tell from my ramblings, I am fed up with most of everything going on in our country. We have a President that is an embarrassment, both domestically and internationally. And most of the lies and the hate permeating our discussions are directly tied to him.
As a concerned citizen, I have already voted and hand delivered my ballot to the County Election Office...as I don't trust the post office to deliver it properly.
If you haven't already voted, please do so now or at least by election day...and let's all pray that level heads will prevail once the results are determined.
